FAQs
Creativity is a cognitive skill—just like memory or math—that can be learned, strengthened, and measured. While some people may appear to be naturally creative, research shows that creativity is not an innate trait but a malleable one. Through deliberate practice, exposure to diverse ideas, and the cultivation of an open mindset, anyone can enhance their creative abilities.
Neuroscience supports the idea that creativity involves several regions of the brain working together, including the prefrontal cortex and the default mode network. These areas can be stimulated through exercises designed to improve cognitive flexibility, divergent thinking, and problem-solving. Like any other skill, creativity thrives on the "use it or lose it" principle—consistent engagement leads to growth.
Furthermore, environments that encourage curiosity, playfulness, and risk-taking tend to foster creativity. When people feel safe to explore unconventional solutions or make mistakes, their ability to think outside the box improves. The methods we teach in the Creativity Course can provide a framework that helps unlock creative potential.
The proprietary œvra creative process is rooted in neuroscience and psychology. With short daily lessons, thought-provoking prompts, and experiential content, you can access your innate creativity and feel empowered to design a more conscious, fulfilling, and artful existence. This life-affirming creative practice strengthens your imaginative muscles anytime, anywhere through simple exercises that use principles of neuroplasticity, the flow state, and more.
Reframing creativity as an intentional part of your routine, just like exercise or meditation, has a ripple effect of benefits throughout your life. There are many ways to practice creativity: some draw; others paint; many listen to music, or go for a long walk. Practicing creativity is fueled by compassion, consistency, and creative resilience, which we teach in the The Creativity Course. Consider œvra your portal to a more creative way of living, rooted in neuroscientific research and proven exercises that actually fit into your daily life.
Œuvre is a word of French origin meaning “the body of the work of an artist, such as a writer or composer.” We named œvra to play upon this concept. We believe creativity is your life’s work, and that everyone can be creative. With our consciously designed educational content, you’ll begin to develop your creative taste, dissolve mental blocks, and remove judgment around your ideas. Soon enough, you’ll form your own body of work.
Experiential learning is when you learn by doing. It’s a hands-on approach to ingesting new information. Learning experientially can take many shapes — in conventional learning environments like schools and universities, you might learn through workshops, internships, or community service. When it comes to your everyday creative practice, experiential learning can include both the acts of doing a creative prompt and reflecting on that activity. Other forms of experiential learning include our œvra Imagination Meditations™️, an immersive unblocking experience designed to get your creativity flowing. You can learn experientially through the self-paced Creativity Course, or in community with others in œpen studios, an intentional, members-only creative space.
Imagination Meditations️ are our transportive, meditative audio-visual experiences that bring you out of your head and into your body. These meditations are analogous to the benefits of stretching; it’s a creative warmup to keep your mind flexible. (It’s a real thing: cognitive flexibility vs. cognitive rigidity.) After one of our guided meditations, your mind will be primed to think in more creative, expansive, imaginative ways.
